WORLD PREMIER of RIGHT THERE at the 35th Mill Valley Film Festival 2012
Presented by California Film Institute.
OCTOBER 14, 2012
Right There screened before a wonderful feature documentary, Room To Breathe – directed by Russell Long – on Thursday October 11th at the Sequoia and Sunday October 14th at the charming 142 Throckmorton Theatre, both in Mill Valley.
Room To Breathe is a surprising story of transformation as struggling kids in a San Francisco public middle school are introduced to the practice of mindfulness meditation.
The programming of these two films together was inspired! Thank you, Kelly Clement, the MVFF documentary programmer. It was a fabulous, well-attended festival in a truly beautiful setting just north of San Francisco. The audiences were appreciative, responsive, and very friendly. The gathering of filmmakers turned out to be a fun and eclectic group who came from near and far. I saw some really interesting films in 4 days:
Jane Mansfield’s Car – directed by Billy Bob Thornton (USA/Russia)
The Slut – directed by Hagar Ben Asher (Israel)
Normal! – directed by Merzak Allouache (France/Algeria)
The Sinners – directed by Faramarz Gharibian (Iran)
Critical Mass – directed by Mike Freedman (UK)
Room To Breathe – directed by Russell Long (US)
